The Word Infusion

We all have those times when we enter a spiritual slump.  The key is recognizing it and working on retrieving our spiritual edge.  Guest Speaker Dr. Ed Huffman will help us with this process in this message.

Why do some people struggle when the gospel is presented to them?  Some people will request more proof before they will even think about making a decision to receive Christ.  It was the same in Jesus' time on Earth.  The Jews wanted to see signs and the Greeks wanted wisdom.  We will see in this message how man's reasoning and wisdom is mastered by God's wisdom in the end.

We start this Bible Study out with verses that remind us of how we are to treat our brothers and sisters in the Lord.  We also learn that by treating others right we will be blessed.  The Apostle Peter will then go on to show us how to learn to love life and see good days. Peter will also teach us in this study that we must expect to suffer even when we are doing right.

Like the Jubilee of the Old Testament times, we, as believers in Christ, have been set free and rejoice in Christ our Savior.

We finish I Peter Chapter 2 discussing the fact that Christians of today must submit to the authority over them (whether in the workplace or to our government).  We are to be a witness for God no matter where we are.  We then begin I Peter Chapter 3 discussing the relationship of a husband and a wife.  We are to honor all people and God at all times in all relationships.

In this second half of Acts Chapter 8 we see Philip witness to the Ethiopian on the road.  We learn how we to need to be close enough to God to hear His voice and follow His directions.  We learn how to watch for where God is working and find the springboard He wants us to use to reach others for Him.

A new river of life flows freely in the lives of those who seek Him.  We gain a new and personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.  He will be our Counselor and Teacher.  As a result we will naturally testify to others of what God has done in us.  We declare Him who is Truth.

We meet Philip the Evangelist in this chapter and learn about his great work in Samaria.  We meet Simon the Sorcerer who receives the gospel, but then stumbles in sin.  In this chapter we discuss the much debated subject of the laying on of hands to receive the Holy Spirit.  Was this a requirement to receive the Holy Spirit or merely peculiar to the beginnings of the Church.  We also discuss the other debated subject in this chapter.  Did Simon really receive Christ or was it a front to try and further his fame and fortune?  Listen and decide for yourself as we study God's Word together.
