The Apostle Peter gives instruction to Pastor in this first part of this chapter.  Pastor's are not to dominate their congregations, but instead to lead by example.  Peter then gives instructions to every Christian.  We are to resist the devil and submit to God.  We need to remember that the devil is like a roaring lion.  A great visual picture to help us be more aware of the spiritual battle we are in.

The Apostle Peter continues teaching us about suffering.  He wanted us to know that suffering is to be expected.  Trials are a part of life.  He wanted to make sure that we understood that if we are going to suffer as Christians that we need to live right, so that we do not bring any suffering or trials on ourselves.  Any suffering we should experience should only be because we have been living for Christ.  We are to bring glory to God's name, not shame.  Christ is our example.

In this Chapter we see Paul getting right to work preaching Christ after meeting Him on the road to Damascus.  His great knowledge helped him preach Christ so effectively that he became a threat.  As a result his life was sought and he had brothers and sisters in the Lord help him with a way of escape. Then we rejoin Peter doing his work for the Lord in Lydda and Joppa.  As a Christian on Fire we learn that being in the Center of God's will may interupt the work you are already doing.  We see Peter bring a beloved Sister in Christ, Tabitha/Dorcas, back to life after her faithful friends call for him to come help.
