The Prize

Yes, once we receive Christ as our Savior, we become “heirs” of the promise.  The promise of eternal life is given to us.  However, the prize of being a “joint-heir” of Christ when He reigns is gained by living a lifetime willing to suffer for Him.

Grave Clothes

Much like Lazarus, many Christians are hopping out of the tomb entangled in their grave clothes.  Once we have been made alive we need to be let loose from our grave clothes and put on our new clothes provided by the Lord.

The common denominator between the goal of the Church and the goal of the individual Christian should be the “Mind of Christ”.  Once the “Mind of Christ” is embraced God’s goals are established.

Do You Believe?

We were once alienated from God, but then we accepted Jesus as Savior.  This belief now caused us to be sojourners in this world.  We should no longer be calling this world our home.  Yet, many of us still linger in this world and cling on to our old life.  We make no progress to our new homeland.  Our lives do not prove that we even believe God and His Word.  We continue to live alienated from God by our own choice.  As the father told his son in “A Knight’s Tale”, “Follow your feet home.”

Saved!

Our salvation begins when we receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.  Once we have done that we can never lose our salvation, but where does our being “saved” go from there?  Biblically “To be saved” is defined three ways and today, we will look at the three tenses (past, present and future) of being saved.

Our Resource

God’s intention is for all Christians to be Spirit-filled.  First, a person must have salvation by faith through Christ.  Next a person must have a desire to surrender control of their life.  Lastly, a person must be persistently trusting God and living in Christ.  Being Spirit-filled is a continual experience.  As you walk in the Spirit you will see five basic characteristics of being Spirit-filled.  The key to being Spirit-filled, is to realize you already are and to tap in to that resource that God has given you to become all that He wants you to become and to bear much fruit for His glory.
