There are many characters in stories, myths and legends that are known as Fire Bringers to mankind. Gods like Prometheus, Agni and Pele are pale imitations of our True God and Fire Bringer, Jesus. At the end of Luke 12 we learn how Jesus came to bring fire on the earth. A fire that would ignite men’s hearts on fire for God.

Previously, in Luke 12, Jesus had taught that His servants needed to be ready and waiting for their Master’s return. In this message, Jesus will give a difficult answer to Peter’s question in response to Jesus’ parable about who are the servants who are to be ready and waiting. Jesus will explain about who the good and bad stewards are and what the Master will do in response to their service when He returns.

We can attempt to clean up our act and put our lives in order, but without Jesus to cleanse us permanently, we could end up worse than we were before we tried to straighten up our lives. Through salvation brought by Jesus and keeping His Word, we will be blessed. Our judgement day will end up far better than those who don’t trust Jesus as their Savior.

In Luke, Jesus told us several times that God expects persistency in our prayers. We must persistently ask, knock and seek. As we pray, the key is not believing in an outcome that we want or expect, but rather it is having faith in God, because of His love, His wisdom, His character and ability to do what is right and best in response to our prayer requests and needs. We must have great faith in God, as the persistent widow did. Then wait for God to give us good things in response.
