Friday Mar 04, 2011

Several areas of our Christian walk are covered in Chapter 2 of I Timothy. The Apostle Paul reminds Timothy that we need to be praying for all men. We need to remember to pray for those in authority over us. And notice that it is all people. It doesn't matter whether we like them or approve of them. Everyone needs prayer. Prayer is an important step in obtaining a peaceable and good life. Next Paul reminds women that they need to be appropriately dressed. Don't dress in a manor that causes others to stumble. He also addresses the subject of the roles of men and women.

James Chapter 4 vs 13 to Chapter 5 vs 11 Bible Study
Monday Feb 28, 2011
Monday Feb 28, 2011
We start this Bible study with a lesson on not boasting about tomorrow. Yes, we should plan and count the cost, but we should do it with God as our guide and our focus. It will be up to God what will really come to pass tomorrow and we need to accept what He allows. We take a moment and leave James Chapter 4 and discuss the parable found in Luke 12: 16-21. We see how the rich man plan to horde his wealth and plan to take a leisurely retirement, with no consideration as to what God would have him to do with his money and his tomorrow. God's judgement on him was tough, "You fool!". The leads us in to James Chapter 5 were we discuss the rich's treatment of the poor and the many injustices we might face in this life. We are to be patient and persevere and hope in our future with the Lord. We are to look to His coming as a means to survive through tough times brought on by the wrongs of others that we may not have deserved.

Sunday Feb 27, 2011
Sunday Feb 27, 2011
Last week we took at "Love Lost". It was a message dealing with recognizing if you are losing or have lost your "First Love" as spoken of in Revelation Chapter 2. This week Pastor Terry helps us to understand that our "First Love" is just a beginning place. From there we are to grow more in love with the Lord. We are to remain loyal, like a Bride and Groom are to remain loyal when they are married. We should be moving beyond spiritual milk and on to spiritual meat in our relationship with God. We are not to grow lazy in our walk, but be faithful and persevere.

I Timothy Chapter 1 Bible Study
Friday Feb 25, 2011
Friday Feb 25, 2011
In chapter 1 of I Timothy, Pastor Terry reminds us that we need to guard the truth. We are to know the true gospel message and doctrines of the Lord and not accept any others. Through the Apostle Paul's life example we are encouraged in this chapter to share with others that God's grace is sufficient for anyone. God is able to take the worst offender and turn his/her life around. God's grace that we receive through our belief in what Christ did for us changes us for His glory. It doesn't matter what we did in this life, only what Christ has done for us and through us. We are to keep up the good fight of faith for the Lord.
