The Israelites had been waiting for the promised Messiah for centuries and during the last 430 years they had not heard a word from the Lord at all. The silence was suddenly ended with a message from God through the angel Gabriel. A prophetic message of great joy to an aging priest and his wife that would be a great answer to prayer.

Sometimes we will face barriers, obstacles, difficult circumstances, overwhelming needs, problem people, mountain-sized situations, or uncomfortable or new areas of ministry that we are unable to do without God stepping in and showing His power and might. First we must cry out to God and when He answers us with assurance of victory, we must step out in faith on His Word and take action. Then we will see God do mighty and miraculous things for us, through us and around us.

As we learned last week, God’s desire for His children and His Church is for them to experience their new life in Him! Then as we live our new life, we are to serve Christ and follow Him even into areas of darkness if Christ leads us to. We may called out of our areas of comfort or strengths, but with dependence on His Spirit we will glorify God. There will be no circumstance, person, situation, shortfall, problem or darkness that can hide the Light of Christ!

The Lord has a zeal for His House. He wants His House to be a House of Prayer. He wants His body of believers to unite with a Christ-like Mind and pray fervently in His House. He wants us to call upon Him. He wants us to depend on Him as a united body. Prayer is where it all begins. Without prayer, individual Christians and God’s Church will go nowhere. We are called on to make God’s House of Prayer and let Him do the rest.
