Next Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday. A time of year that many football fans look forward to. Football fans are basically “sideliners”. They love the game, may have learned how to play the game, but do not participate. Unlike the football players that are on the team and that sit on the benches waiting to be called in to the game, Jesus does not have only certain players playing, He calls everyone out on to the field. How many of us consider the work of Christ our personal responsibility? How many of us understand that He has called us to seize our divine destiny.

We conclude today with part 3 of our series today “Set Free”. We have been given the liberty to do and choose how we want to live our lives in Christ. It is expected by God that after we have received “liberty” in Christ, we are to choose to serve one another, this in essence is serving Christ. Next we have been given liberty with all of God’s resources and guidance to transform the world and turn it upside down for the Lord. We have been set free to help set others free!

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, he not only entered as King on that donkey, but He entered as a willing sacrifice. So to, Isaac, Abraham’s son, went as a willing sacrifice with his father to Mount Moriah. Today, we will look at the foreshadowing of Christ’s willing sacrifice and substitutionary work on the cross in the story of Abraham and Isaac in the book of Genesis. Then we will look at how God calls us to be a living willing sacrifice.

Last week we looked at how the fullness of time had come and Jesus came to earth to be born as a man. This week we will look at the fullness of God dwelling in Man. The fullness of God in the flesh will cause us to bow before Him!

In Roman culture a triumphant Roman general is celebrated for his victorious campaign. As the conquering troops, parade through the city, they shout “Triumph!” Today, we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on what we call Palm Sunday. We are to live in a continual triumphal march that began that day long ago. The triumphal procession in which we march is headed by Jesus, the Conqueror. He is conqueror over sin and death. As His sacrifice on Calvary was pleasing aroma to God, we are to continue on following Him giving off the fragrance of the knowledge of Him as we march as a pleasing aroma to God.

No government, kingdom or ruling power is equal to or higher than God’s Kingdom on Earth, because Christ rules by the power of truth! Christ came to share truth with the World. Like Christ we are called to share truth in love with those inside the Church and with those outside the Church.

It seems everywhere we look, that darkness is growing in this world. We see darkness spreading in families, schools, our towns, our government and our world. The news is filled with darkness. Jesus came into this world to bring the light and dispel the darkness. He left that light in us to shine out and continue the process of dispelling the darkness.
