Two weeks ago we looked at the Veterans or Heroes of the Faith found in Hebrews 11: 1 – 7.  We saw how our Christian faith must be upheld that others may see the Truth of God so they can enjoy the freedom that Christ provides.  Last week we continued this look in to our personal faith and learn that we are temporary residents heading for a new homeland where we will enjoy our new citizenship.  Greeting the promises of God head on like the Heroes of Faith taught us, we are to live in such a way as to demonstrate our new homeland faith.  We are to set our eyes on things above and not on things of this earth.  This week Pastor Terry concludes this series on Faith by reminding us that as Christians we should have a thankful faith that rejoices, because it sees "Hope" in God in all things.

In this message Pastor Terry shares a personal testimony about a spiritual warfare attack.  Then using scripture from Ephesians, James, I Peter, and II Timothy shows how we can protect and defend ourselves against spiritual warfare attacks.  As Christians we need to be aware that we are in a spiritual battle.  The battle intensifies as we grow in our relationship and commitment to the Lord.  Therefore, we need to be faithful, strong and victorious, when wrestling through tough times of spiritual warfare.  Be the people of God!

We start this Bible study with a lesson on not boasting about tomorrow.  Yes, we should plan and count the cost, but we should do it with God as our guide and our focus.  It will be up to God what will really come to pass tomorrow and we need to accept what He allows.  We take a moment and leave James Chapter 4 and discuss the parable found in Luke 12: 16-21.  We see how the rich man plan to horde his wealth and plan to take a leisurely retirement, with no consideration as to what God would have him to do with his money and his tomorrow.  God's judgement on him was tough, "You fool!".  The leads us in to James Chapter 5 were we discuss the rich's treatment of the poor and the many injustices we might face in this life.  We are to be patient and persevere and hope in our future with the Lord.  We are to look to His coming as a means to survive through tough times brought on by the wrongs of others that we may not have deserved.

Pastor Terry speaks to us about the power of the tongue.  With the great illustrations in James Chapter 3, we will learn how as Christians we are not to use both words of blessings and words of cursings.  Our speech should be a fresh flowing spring of good, clean, and refreshing words.
