Even though Jesus was hated by many, He is the key to a right heart that bears His Light through good works. We must take in the Light to be able to bear the Light. We are called to be Light Reflectors.

We can attempt to clean up our act and put our lives in order, but without Jesus to cleanse us permanently, we could end up worse than we were before we tried to straighten up our lives. Through salvation brought by Jesus and keeping His Word, we will be blessed. Our judgement day will end up far better than those who don’t trust Jesus as their Savior.

Jesus prefers that we are occupied with Him more than being occupied for Him. He wants us to sit at His feet. He wants us to have communication with Him that allows us to be still and know Him. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray so that they could draw closer to God.

Last week we learned about how Jesus sent the 70 disciples out ahead of Him into the cities. This week the disciples return with great joy about what they accomplished. Unfortunately, their joy was a prideful joy. Jesus explains to the disciples that pride comes before the fall and that their real joy should be a heavenly joy based on the fact that their names are written in the Lambs Book of Life.

Jesus sent out 70 of His disciples in pairs ahead of His arrival in to the cities and towns of Israel. They were sent to prepare the way, soften hearts, pray and share the good news that the Messiah had arrived. Just as those disciples went out in to their cities, we are called to do the same by our Lord. There are things we can do to begin the process of reaching our cities for God. Pastor Terry will give us some ideas on how we can begin to share the good news and bless our neighbors. (During this message, Carolyn, Pastor Terry’s daughter, gives her testimony of her recent mission trip to the Tenderloin district of San Francisco with her church).

Mountain top experiences with the Lord are wonderful. We wish we could just stay on the mountain top with Jesus, however, we all must come down off the mountain top to take what we have received or learned and share it with others. We may enter the valleys of life and face tough situations, but God has given us what we need to get through those valleys.

Too often we focus on problems or obstacles that we are facing and we will fail to see opportunities right in front of us. Winston Churchill once said: “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; while an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” In Pastor Terry’s message today, we will see Jesus placing the Disciples in their very own obstacle training course.
