Today we will look at four mothers from the book of Genesis that helped to keep a promise going.  Like these women, we too, have been given a promise that we must help promote and protect.  It is not mission impossible!

As Jesus was lifted up on the cross to bring salvation to man, we, too, must lift Jesus up to draw men unto Him for salvation.  Today we will talk about one of the simple ways of lifting Jesus up that we can do.

We have all been watching people go out in to the streets at all times of day and night using their smart phones to play “Pokemon Go!”  They step out of comfort zones, meet new people and share tips, and will even go to dangerous places just to catch a Pokemon creature.  What if all Christians were the same way?  What would happen if Christian excitedly went out in to the streets and shared their faith with those they met?  What if they stepped out of their comfort zones just to reach some one for the Lord?

Many feel that their destiny lies in the hands of that mysterious entity called “Fate”.  This is not an accurate view.  We need to understand that our destiny is a choice.  Fate doesn’t control our destiny.  No matter what our physical destiny in life ends up being, as long as, we make choices based on Christ’s leadership and live out our lives based on our citizenship in Heaven, God will use us and our destiny to glorify Him.

Jesus uses some strong words to reveal how important it is that we have received Him and that we then share our hope with others.  We need to remember that sharing the gospel message will cause division amongst our family and friends.  However, we must hang in there and stand for Christ, despite any persecution or rejection.  We can witness to others using their questions about the signs of the times they are seeing.  We can also be straightforward and share with them that they will be judged for their sin, and that now is the day of their salvation and they should not be slow in accepting Jesus.  We can be thankful for all the opportunities that God provides for us to share His good news with others, because it is a chance to provide hope to the hurting and lost.

Through the miracle of Jesus casting out a demon, He teaches that we need to not be divided in our hearts and minds.  We must stand united with God in our hearts and minds by obeying His truth and following His directions.

Last week we learned about how Jesus sent the 70 disciples out ahead of Him into the cities.  This week the disciples return with great joy about what they accomplished.  Unfortunately, their joy was a prideful joy.  Jesus explains to the disciples that pride comes before the fall and that their real joy should be a heavenly joy based on the fact that their names are written in the Lambs Book of Life.

Jesus sent out 70 of His disciples in pairs ahead of His arrival in to the cities and towns of Israel.  They were sent to prepare the way, soften hearts, pray and share the good news that the Messiah had arrived.  Just as those disciples went out in to their cities, we are called to do the same by our Lord.  There are things we can do to begin the process of reaching our cities for God.  Pastor Terry will give us some ideas on how we can begin to share the good news and bless our neighbors.  (During this message, Carolyn, Pastor Terry’s daughter, gives her testimony of her recent mission trip to the Tenderloin district of San Francisco with her church).

Through Christ, our power source, we can be a light in this dark world.  Through Christ, we will gain a proper understanding of relationships in our life, His Word, His Power and His purpose for our lives.  We will realize that we can trust His power to provide all we need and to protect us in this world as we shine brightly for Him.

The human heart can be unprepared or prepared to receive God’s word, much like the soil of a field receiving seed.  The type of preparation and care can affect the yield of the crop.  Each human has a different heart and will have different results in response to the Holy Spirit and the Word.
