As Jesus entered Jerusalem, he not only entered as King on that donkey, but He entered as a willing sacrifice. So to, Isaac, Abraham’s son, went as a willing sacrifice with his father to Mount Moriah. Today, we will look at the foreshadowing of Christ’s willing sacrifice and substitutionary work on the cross in the story of Abraham and Isaac in the book of Genesis. Then we will look at how God calls us to be a living willing sacrifice.

Adam and Eve lived in the presence of God and His love. Then one day the serpent came along and tempted Eve. At that moment Eve chose to not remain in God’s love and not display her love for God. Next, she gave Adam the fruit. In both instances, Eve’s love became selfish. It became all about her meeting her needs and desires. As oil and water cannot mix, love and selfishness cannot mix.

It has been a long political election season. Many of us are tired of the political speeches and news reports. Others are confused about who to vote for or worried about America’s future. Much like how a Captain of a ship places his hand on the tiller and rudder to turn the ship to his desired course, we have the ability to grab the tiller and turn the rudder on our situation here in America.
